And now let's revisit novelist Kimberly Rose Johnson, author of the new romantic mystery, The Sleuth’s Miscalculation (Mountain Brook Ink, June 2018).
Two-time Faith, Hope, and Love Reader's Choice Finalist, Kimberly Rose Johnson, married her college sweetheart and lives in the Pacific Northwest. From a young child Kimberly has been an avid reader. That love of reading fostered a creative mind and led to her passion for writing. She especially loves romance and writes contemporary romance that warms the heart and feeds the soul.
Kimberly holds a degree in Behavioral Science from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers.
Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.
I’m addicted to Hallmark movies. I spend almost every Saturday night watching one. I also love the Hallmark mystery channel.
I see that Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, stars in one that airs tomorrow, Dater's Handbook.
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of The Sleuth's Miscalculation.
Librarian Nancy Daley loves a good mystery and enjoys moonlighting as a consultant for the sheriff’s department. When license plates go missing in Tipton County, she’s on the case. This time things are different—she’s been partnered with the new deputy, and he’s not interested in her help. To make matters worse, she’s angered the wrong person and is now being threatened.
Sheriff Deputy Carter Malone expects Tipton, Oregon to be a sleepy small-town, but he miscalculated. He’d come to town for a fresh start with his nephew—one without the issues big cities deal with. Had he made a mistake? To complicate matters, he’s told he must consult with the sheriff’s daughter, who is not in law enforcement. When the minor case they are working morphs into something more, things quickly go from harmless to scary.
Can they solve the mystery before it’s too late, and more importantly, what will they do about their growing attraction?
What is it about Nancy that will make your readers care about her?
I think readers will be able to relate to Nancy. She values her friends and family and will do anything for them. She has hurts and regrets like all of us. Finally, she has a curious mind that drives her to solve mysteries.
Who is one of your favorite fictional characters?
I always come back to Dee Henderson's Marcus O'Malley when presented with a question like this. He is literally the only character that has stayed with me for years and years. I was drawn to his strength and depth of character.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
I am currently reading The Saturday Night Supper Club by Carla Laureano. This story has held my interest and even though it takes me forever to finish a book, I will finish this one because I’m enjoying the interplay between the characters.
I know what you mean about taking forever to finish a book. Over the past year I've had so little reading time. I think I'm doing more "reading" by audiobook than any other method, because I can do that while walking or while in traffic.
What are you working on now?
Currently I’m adapting one of my books to screenplay, but once I’m finished with that I will finish the next book in my Brides of Seattle series and then write the third book in The Librarian Sleuth series.

I love mysteries and suspense stories. I like the problem solving. Sometimes I figure out the ending early on but most times I have to read to the end for the answer. This book sounds very interesting. I will put it on my TBR list.
Hi, Sue. I like to figure out whodunnit too.:)
Happy reading!
Do I enjoy mysteries ????
Yes, Yes, oh, my goodness, yes, I do !!
I like the twists, the turns, the plots, and trying to discover whether the butler did it or not.
Thanks for entering me in your giveaway.

Hi, Library Lady. I'm thrilled at your enthusiasm for mysteries. Based on you name I see you enjoy libraries too. :) I hope you will request The Sleuth's Miscalculation at your local library. I'd like for this book to be in libraries all over the country.
Happy Reading!
I'm with you, Kimberly, about library requests. Many libraries will order books when patrons request them--at least that's been my experience. So I second that idea, if anyone is inclined to request any of my books! That's always a big help for an author.
I kind of fell away from reading mysteries and thrillers for quite some time, even though I still watched mystery films. But reading Gone Girl years ago got me hooked again on reading thrillers and mysteries, so I intersperse them with the rest of my reading. I've always had such respect for people able to craft mysteries that keep the reader guessing (or that steer the reader away from the true ending)!
When I first started incorporating mystery into my novels it was incredibly hard. I wanted to quit on a daily basis. :) Now I actually enjoy writing the mystery element of the story.
I love watching mystery movies. I watch Hallmark's mystery channel several times a week. LOL it's probably the most watched station at my house right now. Well, that and HGTV. :)
