Kimberly Rose Johnson and Free Books!

Someone is threatening a high school English teacher, and Nancy Daley is determined to find out who is behind the threats.

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free copy of my romantic comedy novel, Too Good to Be True, is:

lejeune@...

Congratulations! I'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Kimberly Rose Johnson, author of the romantic mystery novel, The Sleuth’s Dilemma (Mountain Brook Ink, February 2019).

Award winning author Kimberly Rose Johnson married her college sweetheart and lives in the Pacific Northwest. From a young child Kimberly has been an avid reader. That love of reading fostered a creative mind and led to her passion for writing. She especially loves romance and writes contemporary romance that warms the heart and feeds the soul.

Kimberly holds a degree in Behavioral Science from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

At age ten I knocked myself out by doing a death drop on the bars at school.

Ah, the joys of being a "tom-boy." I remember the face plant I did in the process of learning the death drop. We're lucky we didn't break our faces, aren't we?

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of The Sleuth's Dilemma.

Anna loves her job as a high school English teacher until everything goes sideways. The one bright spot in her life is Titus Gains, the school counselor, who is there for her at every turn.

Titus’ boss complicates his ordered world when she tasks him with running a meeting that changes everything. How had he not noticed Anna earlier? Someone is out to destroy her, and he can’t let that happen.

As the head of the English department, part of Luke Harms’ job is to make sure everything runs smoothly. Things went haywire when Anna was put in charge of the big writing contest. Entries are missing, Anna appears to be in danger, and her job is on the line. Luke is investigating and wants to make things right for this woman he’s starting to care about.

Can a trio of school officials along with Nancy Daley, the town sleuth, stop the saboteur before it’s too late? And will Anna choose the right man, or lose them both?

Plenty of intrigue in that one!

What is it about Nancy Daley that will make your readers care about her?

Nancy loves a good mystery, and she loves to help the people in her life. Sometimes that means doing crazy things, which put her in harms way. She also is the town’s librarian and loves books so much so that she takes on some of the vocabulary from whichever book she is reading.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

Believe it or not Trish, I just finished reading one of your books. Together by Design captivated me from the opening line. I don’t usually read books fast, but I did with this one.

I'm flattered, Kimberly! I'm so glad you enjoyed Elena's story. She certainly has her hands full.

What are you working on now?

I am currently writing the final book in the Librarian Sleuth Series. It’s set to release in November of 2019.

We'll definitely have to have you back to feature it.

I can’t think of a real life mystery personally but I love to read them. My only mysteries at my age are trying to figure out where I put things. Right now I’ve misplaced my granddaughter’s Birthday present but her birthday is May 9 so I have a while to figure it out, LOL!

Hi, the book sounds amazing! Actually this is a kind of funny mystery o solved for my 3 grandchildren about 3 years ago in the summer our 3 young grandchildren were with us, they love to go for walks so we always go on walks when they are here. Well, we walked the the middle school that isn't too far from our house , they love to play there or we usually take them there to play tennis also. Well, this day they were walking and we were about ready heading back to our house and my granddaughter said to me Granny we just saw something weird on the ground like crop circles, i wonder what it is, it's kind of scary, so i told them tomorrow when we go for our walk we will come back here and check it out. So all this time i kept thinking to myself, we should have turned back to look at them. So the next day when we went for our walk we went to look at the mysterious crop circles, Well, i looked at it and i told them, now look at it real close i looked around and i showed them some old tires laying there and i moved one and i showed them the image it left, so they just laughed and said granny solved the mystery! some tires had just been moved around, they use the old tires at the school for the kids to step into them while they are practicing for their football practice. :) So there you go, I solved a mystery for my grandchildren. :) aliciabhaney@sbcglobal.net

As Kimberly knows, I have already read and reviewed her book. I have enjoyed both books in this series and look forward to the third one. Regarding solving mysteries, I have never solved the type of mysteries that Nancy Daley dealt with, but my career in IT often involved "mysteries". The details have gotten hazy over time. I began my IT career as a computer programmer, with an initial six months in manufacturing. Then I got into banking and found lots of challenges at a time when most small banks were just beginning to automate. I was involved in a number of computer conversions and often spent long hours searching and documenting the results in order to figure out why the computer failed to pay the right amount of interest on savings accounts, or what caused the statements to print out gibberish, etc. After I advanced from programming into management, it was always a lot of fun to take the information available to me and solve a logic error in someone else's program. I already have this book so I am not entering. I just wanted to share some memories, even if they are dimmer now.

Hi Gail H.
I hope you find that gift! It's crazy how that happens. I'm currently in search of something I put away for safe keeping. LOL it's so safe, I have no clue where it is. :)

Kimberly said...

Hi Licha!
What a fun mystery. I'm glad you were able to figure it out. :)

Hi, Edward!
It sounds like you solved mysteries on a daily basis. Those kind of mysteries would have made my brain shut down. I'm thankful for people like you!

Hi Linda. I think I might have stumped a lot of people with my question. I'm glad you enjoy a good Christian mystery. :)

Kimberly, I have never solved a real life mystery. I am too timid to get out of my comfort zone. My hubby and and I have wondered at times about things and we will in our mind make up the story, but I leave the mystery solving to all of my favorite authors, of which you are one of them! Thanks so much for your talent and genre. I am always thankful that there are so many Christian fiction writers out there! <3

Mystery - which of my favorite Kimberly Rose Johnson and Trish Perry books is the best?!?! :) Laying it on thick, eh? I appreciate both of you and your writing gift to tell stories that are positive and are from a Christian perspective. It is too early in the morning to come up with a mystery I have solved - my immediate thought is the mystery of leading others in a consistent, uplifting, and honest manner in the workplace.

Again - thank you both for bringing light to a dark world!

Paula

Kimberly said...

Good morning, Perkypaula!
I like how you think outside the box. :)
Thanks for reading Christian fiction!

Trish Perry said...

lol, Paula, that's a funny mystery.

I think you're right, Kimberly--in the context of this "conversation," most of us will try to think of a novel-worthy mystery we might have solved. But I think many of us solve lesser mysteries all the time.

I'm reminded of a situation years (and years) ago, when the guy I was dating told me where he had been the evening before. A bit later, he mentioned that he was angry with his brother's girlfriend and he wanted me to avoid talking with her for his sake. But at some point shortly thereafter, when she and I were alone, she told me, "I don't know why [my boyfriend] told you we were fighting. We aren't at all." As we chatted further, we figured out why. She had been his alibi for why he had been missing the night before, but she didn't know it. He didn't want our conversation to unveil his lie. So he had actually been with someone he shouldn't have been with. Small mystery solved--important lesson learned!!

Kimberly said...

Oh wow, Trish. I'm sure glad you unraveled that mystery!
I believe you are correct about solving lesser mysteries all the time. For example, the mystery of the missing keys. :)

I don’t recall a big mystery that I solved just a goofy thing that went missing from the kitchen. It was a small recipe holder that can hang from a cabinet handle. I looked all over and I could not find it. We had it for over 30 years. Then one day I went to a canister of noodles and there it was . It had dropped off into the canister.. my life is soooo exciting! I do love mysteries.

Kimberly said...

I'm so glad that mystery was solved, Paula!

Trish Perry said...

lol, Paula, I love that story. I think we can all relate (especially to the "exciting life" comment).

Just reminding readers again to leave your [fractured] email address if you want to enter for Kimberly's book drawing.

Another mystery - where did I put my 38 year-old's sweet 16 birthday card, which was hilarious. Every year he asks if I've found it yet.
