Sara Foust and Free Books!

Facing dehydration, starvation, and a convoluted kidnapper, will Amy succeed in recovering her precious foster daughter or get lost in a vast wilderness forever?

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free e-copy of my new comedic romance, A Midnight Clear, is:

lemonade050@...

Congratulations! I'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Sara L. Foust, author of the inspirational romantic suspense novel, Camp Hope (Mantle Rock Publishing, July 2018).

Sara is a multi-published, award-winning author who writes inspirational romantic suspense from a mini-farm in East Tennessee, where she lives with her husband and their five homeschooled children. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Tennessee and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers.

Her debut novel Callum's Compass won second place in Deep River Books' 2017 Writer's Contest. She also has a story, “Leap of Faith,” in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Step Outside Your Comfort Zone.

Sara finds inspiration in her faith, her family, and the beauty of nature. When she isn’t writing, you can find her reading, camping, and spending time outdoors with her family.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

I love pirate history, pirate stories, pirate movies . . . pretty much anything pirate.

So do I!

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Camp Hope.

Amy Dawson directs a summer camp for foster children near Briceville, Tennessee. A foster mom for the first time, her responsibilities as mother to a traumatized child bring a whole new set of challenges and joys.

But when Amy’s four-year-old foster daughter is dragged into the mountains of Royal Blue by a former employee, parenting challenges are overshadowed by a new nightmare. The Sheriff's department fails to procure viable leads, and Amy can’t sit idle. Her childhood friend and first love, Jack Evans, returns to lend his skills as tracker. Problem is, he also stirs up romantic memories Amy would rather leave buried.

Jack struggles to let go of his past failures and prove his reliability by bringing Mattie home, but fears when he left camp nineteen years ago and failed to keep a promise to Amy, he permanently lost her confidence.

As Amy plunges into the wilderness on horseback to search for Mattie, she must decide who she trusts, let go of her childhood traumas, and learn to rely on hope in God. Facing dehydration, starvation, and a convoluted kidnapper, will she succeed in recovering her precious foster daughter or get lost in the vast wilderness forever?

Exciting subject matter!

What is it about Amy that will make your readers care about her?

I think readers will care about Amy because she is real. She is not perfect and has a scarred past, with a childhood filled with abuse, that has led her to a point where she doesn’t believe God cares about her. She is relatable in that we have all struggled at a time in our lives, and I believe readers will root for her to succeed, to heal, and most of all, to rediscover God.

Who is one of your favorite fictional characters?

Does Indiana Jones count? I love, love, love his resourceful, imperfect, and adventurous character, flaws and all.

Yes, he certainly does count. I remember seeing the first Indie film and thinking he was such a great modern twist on an old-fashioned hero. Great character.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

The last novel I read was Red Carpet Summer by Melissa Ferguson. She is a new author and this is actually the freebie novel she is giving away if people sign up for her newsletter. But I absolutely loved the story. I immediately cared about what happened to her main heroine, Addie, and the plot was very interesting.

What are you working on now?

My third novel in the Love, Hope, and Faith Series, Rarity Mountain, is with my beta reader now. Once she finishes, I will be using her suggestions to finish tweaking it and then be sending it off to Mantle Rock. I am also writing a new novella, my first dip into the Women’s Fiction genre, called Of Walls, about a woman who goes on a mission trip across the world hoping to save her marriage.

That's one thing I love about the upsurge in independent publishing, the ability to publish in other genres. I hope you enjoy the Of Walls experience.

Hi, When I discover an author that is new to me, I look for what genre the author tends to write. You are new to me, and this book seems to have an interesting mix of genres, and characters! Also, I really like the cover of your book.
Many thanks, Cindi

Thank you Melanie and Cindi. I hope it does pique interest for readers of all different genres, because it does seem to have a bit of many different ones mixed together. Thanks for commenting! (Oh, and I love the cover too. Diane Turpin does a great job!)

I love it when a author can grab my imagination either by creating great characters or a great mystery. (My favorite genre is mysteries, I love being able to figure out whodunit)
I read Sara's last book Callum's Compass with the ACFW group and absolutely loved it! It was a book where I was captured by great characters, Kat and Ryan, there was also some mystery in there, but I really enjoyed the characters.

Blessings!

lol, that says it all, Rebecca! I tend to be like you. I like a variety in genres, and if I hear by word-of-mouth or from reviews that a particular author excels in any of them, I like to give that author a try.
