Too Good to Be True and Free Books!

Today I'm republishing a brief post from a few years ago, featuring my novel, Too Good to Be True, a copy of which I'm giving away to a commenter next week.

When I interview an author, I usually ask who would play the lead roles in the movie version of her/his novel. Recently I shared the same information about one of my own books. I'm going to do that again, with Too Good to Be True.

Before I show you my characters, I'd like to announce that the winner of the signed copy of my novel, The Guy I'm Not Dating, is:

nina4sm@ . . .

Congratulations! I'll contact you today for your snail mail address, and we'll get your book to you right away.

I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right in order to participate in future book give-aways!

Here's how Too Good to Be True is described on Amazon:

Trish Perry, author of the charming novel, The Guy I’m Not Dating, follows up with a contemporary, humorous tale of how love and life unfold in surprising ways.

Rennie Young meets the gallant Truman Sayers after she faints in the boys’ department of the local super store. Despite this unromantic introduction, Tru Sayers, a handsome young labor–and–delivery nurse, seems like a gift from God. But a recent divorce and other life disappointments cause Ren to question whether she can trust her heart and God.

This clever novel encourages readers to lean on God’s leading and to be open to life after the hurt—even when it seems too good to be true.

Now let me show you my movie leads for Too Good to Be True.

This is similar to how I pictured Ren Young, the heroine. I've used a black and white photo, because Ren has dark hair, and this helps give that impression. This actor is Kate Winslet, by the way.

And this is how I pictured Tru Sayers, the hero of the story. The actor is Vincent Perez. Very romantic actor.

What do you think? If you've read Too Good to Be True, I'd love to hear if these two match what you pictured.

If you'd like to read the book, I sell signed copies via Amazon, but I'm going to give away a signed copy Monday, January 30. You have to answer my question below to be entered. Leave your email address like so, in case you win: trish[at]trishperry[dot]com.

My question? When have you managed to trust in God, maybe even despite hurt caused you by your fellow man or woman, and experienced a blessed outcome?

Also, I'd love it if you'd connect with me on Facebook. Just click on my name at the right of today's post.

The Guy I'm Not Dating and Free Books!

This could be the start of a "they lived happily ever after" love story, if only she hadn't sworn off dating.

We've had a schedule change for today's interview, so I'm going to feature and give away a signed copy of one of my past novels, The Guy I'm Not Dating (Harvest House Publishers, 2006). But first, I want to announce that the winner of the signed copy of Christmas Cookie Mystery, by Naomi Miller, is:

teamob4@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to participate in future book give-aways! Subscribers are entered a second time when they comment.

Here's the storyline in a nutshell:

Kara Richardson has finally suffered one breakup too many. She's decided to go the no-dating route to romance, although she's not quite sure how that works.

She couldn't have picked a worse time to meet Gabe Paolino. Gorgeous men hardly faze Kara. A personal trainer, she works with hunks every day. But Gabe, the handsome young deli owner in town, proves way too available and way too challenging for Kara's vow of friendship. How will she adhere to her new lifestyle without scaring Gabe away?

Enter matchmaking friends, a strange elderly aunt, three demanding teens, and one hard-to-take vixen with eyes for Gabe. Add an overcrowded road trip and plenty of God's blessings, and Kara may discover that the guy she's not dating is the best boyfriend she's ever had.

And since I usually ask my guests to give us an idea of who they would cast in the movie version of their novels, I'm reposting what I said a few years ago about the hero and heroine of The Guy:

This is Shelby Lynne, a country music singer. I haven't a clue whether or not the girl can act, but this particular picture of her was very much how I pictured Kara (although Kara was less serious looking than this).

And this guy? I have no idea who this person is in real life, but he's how I pictured Gabe. Tall, dark, not too pretty, not too rugged. Juuuuuuuuust right. Okay, maybe he looks a little bit pretty here, but picture him in a white T-shirt and jeans. That's Gabe.

If you'd like to be entered into the drawing for a signed copy of The Guy I'm Not Dating, leave your answer to the following question:

What do you think of the idea that some Christians decide to hold off on "just" dating, waiting until they know someone well enough that marriage is the plan right from Date #1?

I'll randomly draw a name and email address from the comments list and my subscriber list on Monday, January 30. Leave your email address, like so: trish[at]trishperry[dot]com.

Also, I'd love it if you'd connect with me on Facebook. Just click on my name at the right of today's post.

Naomi Miller and Free Books!

photo 02 Christmas Cookie Mystery Front Cover B_zpspds8zzeo.jpgIt’s Christmas time in Abbott Creek, and who would expect a mystery . . . or even two . . . to pop up and interrupt Katie, while she tries to keep up with the holiday rush.

Happy New Year, all! I've been on a bit of a hiatus for the Christmas-New Year season and am eager to introduce you to some wonderful Inspirational authors this year.

Before we meet today's featured author, I want to announce that the winner of the free e-copy of Forgotten, by Stephanie Prichard, is:

psalm103and138@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to participate in future book give-aways! Subscribers are entered a second time when they comment.

And now let's enjoy one last Christmas fiction blast and meet novelist Naomi Miller, author of the Amish cozy mystery, Christmas Cookie Mystery (S&G Publishing, December 2016).

Naomi Miller mixes up a batch of intrigue, sprinkled with Amish, Mennonite, and English characters, adding a pinch of mystery – and a dash of romance!

Naomi lives a quiet life in the hills of Tennessee with her family, plotting mysteries for her friend Katie to solve. She works full time as an author, blogger and inspirational speaker. She is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) organization. When she’s not working diligently to finish the next novel in her Sweet Shop Mystery series, Naomi tries to make time for attending workshops and writers conferences. Whenever time permits, Naomi can be found in one of two favorite places – the beach and the mountains.

Naomi’s day is spent focusing on her writing, editing, and blogging about her experiences. She loves traveling with her family, singing inspirational/gospel music, taking a daily walk, and witnessing to others of the amazing grace of Jesus Christ.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I find myself singing Christmas songs all year long!

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Christmas Cookie Mystery.

In the small town of Abbott Creek, mysteries are as much a part of daily life as Katie Chupp's Christmas cookies.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. With a winter chill settling in and Christmas right around the corner, no one would expect a mystery, but a mystery does indeed appear…

Katie Chupp is spending her days catering to the holiday rush, but she soon finds herself in the midst of a secret project that attracts more attention than she wants.

And when one local family finds a very unexpected surprise at their door, this is one mystery that may never be solved… even by Katie.

What is it about Katie that will make your readers care about her?

Katie Chupp loves a mystery, is a friend to everyone, and does whatever she can to help those around her.

If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your lead roles?

Imagine you walk into a coffee shop and see someone reading one of your books. In a perfect world, what expression would you see on that reader’s face?

I would expect to see a warm smile.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

Life After E.L.E. by JC Morrows — is about a young girl who, along with the others in her city, lives in a cave after an event that almost destroyed all life on the planet. The story grabbed me and kept me in its’ grip until the very end, which was a cliffhanger, so now I can’t wait to read book two of the series!

What are you working on now?

Lemon Tart Mystery (book 3 of the Amish Sweet Shop Mysteries).

Naomi's book can be purchased via the following button:

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?

Is there any particular mystery you would like to see Katie solve in the future?

To enter, leave a comment below in answer to Naomi's question, above.
